William David Cornell, Sr.

William D. Cornell, Sr., age 81 of Kalamazoo, died on November 28, 2020. He was born March 14, 1939, in Gobles, Michigan, one of eight children of Howard and Margaret (Smith) Cornell. Bill served in the National Guard in the 126th Infantry Division. On November 1, 1969, he married Carol Kocher, who preceded him in death in 2016. Bill worked as a truck driver for Kalamazoo Foundry and later retired as a welder from Burroughs Manufacturing. Bill is survived by his children: Bill (Shelly) Cornell, Melody Meyer, Michelle (Bob) Myers, Tina Wright, Jaslynne Cornell, and Jacob Cornell; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his brothers James (Lily) Cornell and Alan Cornell; his sister Janet Boughton; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter Deloris Cornell. A private graveside service will be held at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park.
