Wayne Dean Stevens

September 19, 1938 — February 1, 2023

Kalamazoo

Passed away Wednesday February 1, 2023, peacefully with his family by his side. Wayne was born in Battle Creek, Michigan, to the late DeWayne and Bertha (Starks) Stevens. After graduating from high school, Wayne went on to serve his country proudly as he joined the United States Army. When he was 29 years old, he married his best friend, Patricia, whom he spent his life with until her passing in 2018. He worked at Mead and retired from there.  He was a devout member of Cornerstone Church in Portage, Michigan. He was known to minister and loved the word of God.  He was even ministering at the facility where he resided.  Wayne enjoyed spending time with his family.  Loved to watch old tv shows, Dr. Phil, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. He will always be remembered for his kind heart.

Surviving Wayne are his children, Daryl (Norma) Stevens, Jerald Stevens, Sheryl Plesco; grandchildren, Ali (Derrick) Young, Adriene Plesco, Katie Plesco, David Plesco, Brooke, Abbie, Heather, Scott, Jay; and his favorite great-granddaughter, Kamiyah Young. Preceeding him in passing are his parents, and his wife, Patricia.

Friends are welcome to join the family at visitation on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial and Cremation Services, 622 South Burdick Street, Kalamazoo, Michigan 49007, from 11am to 1pm. Services will be held in Oklahoma at a later date. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to American Red Cross in Wayne’s honor.
