Virginia Lou (Normand) Brumblay

Virginia Lou (Normand) Brumblay, age 86, passed away at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo, MI, on Saturday, June 4, 2022. Virginia was born in Alexandria, Louisiana, on June 30, 1935, the daughter of the late Hunter Joseph Normand and Eva Leola (Irwin) Normand. She was one of seven siblings and grew up in a loving family in Central Louisiana. She studied at Northwestern Louisiana State College, and worked as a first grade teacher for over thirty years in Pasco County, Florida, impacting thousands of students along the way. She was active in the Girl Scouts in her youth, and sang in a musical group “The Popeye Club” with her family and friends in support of the USO. She was an avid baker and cook and was known for her amazing gumbo and sweet rolls. She taught youth to bake bread and sweet rolls for church fund raising events. Virginia loved her family and enjoyed spending time outdoors with her two sons. She was the most gentle of human beings and was a blessing to those who knew her.

Virginia is survived by her loving husband of sixty years Gene Brumblay and their two sons Normand (Robyn) Brumblay and Hunter (Khady) Brumblay; four grandchildren, Garrison, Eleanor, Thiendella, and Codou; and beloved nieces and nephews, Neill, Valerie, and Matthew Normand.

Cremation has taken place and a private family graveside service will be held later in Louisiana.
