JERKE, Ted
of Kalamazoo, Michigan Ted Jerke, age 66, died suddenly on Monday, August 4, 2014 of a heart attack. Ted was born in Muskogee, OK, on September 19, 1947. The Jerke Family moved to Michigan in 1953. Ted attended Comstock High School and graduated in 1965. He worked at James River and later at Georgia Pacific. He retired December, 2013 and enjoyed working in his yard and drag racing with his Camaro. He loved being outside and participated in many sports. He was a friend to all and loved by many. Ted was preceded in death by his father, Al Jerke. He is survived by his fiancée, Jackie Rasmussen; his mother, Norma Jerke; brother, Tim Phyllis Jerke; sisters, Lynn Gross, Deb Christy Julian and Shele Jerke; sons. John Becky Jerke and Troy Jerke; grandchildren, Trenton Jerke, Skyler Jerke, Katelyn and Lauryn Jerke; his 2 cats, Mickey and Bernie. He will be missed by all. A visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Thursday Today, in the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Comstock Chapel, 6121 King Highway. A committal will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, August 8, at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend the committal service are asked to meet at the Comstock Chapel by 12:15 PM on Friday. Following the committal service at Ft. Custer, friends are invited to join the family at the Comstock VFW, Post 6252, 5990 E. Michigan, for a time of food and fellowship.
