Sylvia Mae (Haggerty) Townsend
April 21, 1927 — December 9, 2020

On December 9, 2020, Sylvia Townsend, 93, of Kalamazoo, MI left her earthly home to be with our Lord, Jesus Christ.
She was a woman that throughout her life showed strength beyond measure, determination and grit, while maintaining a beautiful, positive and loving attitude. It has been noted by many, that she always had a smile to share with friends and strangers alike. She was mischievous and kind, loved animals, the Lord, and her family (near and far).
Sylvia will certainly be remembered for her years of dedication to both the Congregational and Baptist Churches in Galesburg, MI.
Born Sylvia Mae Haggerty April 21, 1928, she was a loving wife to Ed Barrett for 40 years, and to Paul Townsend for 29 years. She often jokingly told people "I think I've been married all my life."
She was undoubtedly a very proud mother of Paul Barrett, loved his wife Kathy as her own, and whole-heartedly embraced the six Townsend children, their spouses and many grandchildren.
Sylvia loved to sing - so today we can smile, knowing she is in God's choir in heaven.
She will be laid to rest in Oak Grove Cemetery with a private graveside service.
