Shirley Jean Hodges

HODGES, Shirley Jean Of Portage Passed away Tuesday morning, June 12, 2007 at her residence. Shirley was born March 12, 1938 in Kalamazoo the daughter of Thomas and Grace Sunday Bloomfield. Shirley loved children and provided a safe and loving day care place for many children for 20 years. She was a generous and outgoing person that could make friends with any one. Shirley had a great sense of humor, and especially enjoyed spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Ralph, Don, William and Jim Bloomfield. On October 1, 1956 she was united in marriage to her loving husband of 50 years, James ?Jim? Hodges who survives. Also surviving are 6 children, Jim Hodges, Jr., Tammy Waldron, Pam Davault, Kim Fadi Kouja, Kamei Jerry West, Aimee Hodges; 7 grandchildren, Jennifer, Nick, Katelyn, Najwa, Kamal, Maija, and Taylor; great-grandson, Domnyck; brothers and sisters, Richard Harriet Bloomfield, Deloris Henion, Darlene Schroder, Robert Fran Bloomfield, Charles Faith Bloomfield, Mary Lou Phelps, Clara Jerry Snelling, Ben Carolyn Bloomfield; and many nieces and nephews. A gathering of family and friends to remember Shirley?s life will be held Friday evening from 5-8pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street. Private interment will be at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the St. Jude?s Children Hospital.
