Shirley Hibbard

Passed away unexpectantly Friday, February 7, 2020, while on vacation with her family. Born on July 31, 1932, in Cassopolis, MI, Shirley was the daughter of the late Clarence and Eva (Baldwin) Hagan. She was an active member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Battle Creek where she helped with the Altar Guild, and participated in many other church activities. She very much enjoyed taking care of her family and was known for her homemade bread, which she made weekly. Shirley was also a nurse, graduating from Nazareth College. Shirley was a world traveler and took many trips over the years with her husband and family. She was a member of the Honor Guard for 15 years at Ft. Custer National Cemetery, and an auxiliary member of the American Legion Post #54. She also loved square dancing and spending time with her family and friends. On September 12, 1953, she was united in marriage to her loving husband of 66 years, Robert Hibbard who survives. Also surviving are her children, Charles (Susie) Hibbard, Christine (Glenn) Belland, Anita (Joel) Tanner, James (Dori) Hibbard, Anson (Karen) Hibbard; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; her sister, Juanita Hagan; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Pat Colborn. Friends may meet the family from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Friday evening, February 14 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial and Cremation Services, 205 East Maple, Climax, MI, 49034 and from 10:00-11:00 A.M. Saturday prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 15 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 16 East VanBuren St, Battle Creek, MI, 49017. Interment will follow in Leroy Congregational Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to St. Thomas Episcopal Church or the American Legion Post #54.
