Ronald "Ron" G. Hansen

Ronald Gordan Hansen left this Earth at 10:05 P.M. on November 16th, 2022, to go on and live forever in that "better place".  He did everything to make "this place" a more pleasant one, throughout his 85 years. He was honest, dedicated, loyal, hardworking honorable…and his sense of humor was more than contagious.  Sacrifice, family, love of nature, and citizenship were the “stuff he was made of”.

Born in Chicago on July 13,1937, raised in Lawrence, he went on to build an amazing family in south Portage, as he caught many fish in many lakes with many smiles.  He loved his Chicago Cubs and Bears almost as much as he loved the outdoors. Ron was a proud Navy Veteran who went on to become a brave and dedicated Consumers Power employee in the gas department for 37 years. A fisherman, little league coach, hunter, sportswriter for the Kalamazoo Gazette (usually for his own grandchildren), golfer, bowler, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and proud American, he lived life to the fullest.  He was a neighbor to everyone. He impacted so many lives in so many positive ways.  There was never another soul who was so genuinely happy for the success of others.

Ron is survived by his wife Joyce; daughters, Pam (Bob) VanDam, Lori (Bob) Brown, Nancy (John) Paffhausen, Michelle (Darrin) Nagy; son Jeff (Joyce) Hansen;12 grandchildren, and 18 (soon to be 19) great grandchildren. He is loved dearly.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, November 21, 2022, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services 411 E. Centre Ave. Portage, MI 49002 at 12:00 pm. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 11:00-12:00. Interment will take place immediately following at Portage South Cemetery.
