Ronald William VerMeulen

Ronald William VerMeulen "Ron", 81, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence on Saturday, May 16, 2020. He was born June 6, 1938, in Kalamazoo, MI a son of Daniel and Cora (VanderMolen) VerMeulen and had been a lifelong area resident.

He attended Kalamazoo Christian High School and graduated in 1956. He went on to attend WMU where he received his bachelor's degree in 1960. It was at WMU where he met his wife of 57 years, Marilyn (Wood) VerMeulen.They were married in 1962. Ron completed his Masters in Rehabilitation Counseling in 1966 at MSU. Ron was a longtime member of North Park Reformed Church where he was active in the choir, Men of Song and was a Sunday school teacher, deacon and an elder. He also sang with the Singing Crusaders. Ron enjoyed hot air ballooning, fishing with his son, going for car rides, mowing his lawn and making his U of M friends' kids say, "Go Green!" Most of all, Ron enjoyed spending time with his family. He adored spending time with his grandchildren.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Albert LeRoy; and niece, LuAnn Jager. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; children, Amy (Mark) Schreiner and Bruce VerMeulen; grandchildren, Mathew and Laura Schreiner; sister, Mary LeRoy; brother, James (Marijean) VerMeulen; and many nieces and nephews.

Private graveside services will be held in Mount Ever-Rest Memorial Park, South. Memorials may be made to Adult Day Services of Oakland Centre, Hospice Care of SW Michigan, Park Village Pines, or North Park Reformed Church.
