Roger Allen Warren

Roger entered his heavenly home on Thursday, December 30, 2021, following a cardiac arrest. He was born November 20, 1932, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the son of Kenneth R. and Gertrude C. (Clement) Warren. Roger graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1951, where he excelled in football, basketball, and track. He even made time to play the trumpet. In February 1952, Roger enlisted in the Army and was stationed at what is now called the Demilitarized Zone, in Korea. He reached the rank of Sargent and was honorably discharged in December 1954.

When he returned home, he worked at Kendall Hardware in Kalamazoo for 15 years. During this time, he was still active in sports by refereeing high school basketball games in and around Kalamazoo. On October 12, 1966, Roger married his wife of 55 years., Geraldine K. Miller.

Prior to his retirement in 2006, Roger worked at Bay State Abrasives as the top Sales Manager. After retiring, Roger fulfilled a lifelong dream of living in Tennessee. He and his wife, Gerry moved to Fairfield Glade, Tennessee where he played golf a couple of times a week, made dollhouse furniture and enjoyed the company of special friends. He also attended First Baptist Church.

In 2016, he returned to Kalamazoo, Michigan where he continued to create new pieces for the miniature world. Roger was a talented artist and enjoyed drawing freehand and working with wood (cabinets, tables). He could make an antique item look like new. Roger was a member of the Third Christian Reformed Church in Kalamazoo, Michigan for several years and then joined Third Reformed Church (North Point) also in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Roger is survived by his wife, Geraldine K. (Miller). His surviving children are Deborah A. Gibson (Richard), Robert A. Warren (Christy), Steven C. Warren, John M. Warren, Michele K. Phillips, and Allen B. Warren (Sherrie). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and one brother, Kenneth R. Warren Jr. and several nieces and nephews. Roger was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Duaine R. Warren (Sharon).

Due to COVID-19, an outdoor memorial service will be held later. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Kalamazoo Cancer Center.
