LATTERNER, Robert Lee

Robert Lee Latterner, passed away on his 96th birthday May 3, 2021 at his residence. Robert was born May 3, 1925 in Detroit, MI. He was the son of Richard and Edith (Reynolds) Latterner. Robert was employed at The Upjohn Company for 40 years until his retirement in 1985, where he worked as lead chemical operator in the area called "Tin City". He was a longtime member of Northwest United Methodist Church, the West Oshtemo Grange #1630, and the Masonic Lodge #513 F&AM.

On November 15, 1946 he was united in marriage to Phyllis M. (Squires) Latterner, who preceded him in death on May 7, 2003. Robert was also preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law Larry Hicks, daughter-in-law Judy Latterner; step-children Buddy Cray and Beverly Wiersma.

On October 15, 2005 he was united in marriage to Lena Belle (Cook) Cray Latterner, who survives. Also surviving are his children: Lois Hicks, Tom (Jackie) Latterner, John Latterner and Kay (Lance) Gillman; his step-children: Marilyn (David) Goldsmith, Nancy (Tom) Pickard and Dawn Barkley; a sister Sandra (Glen) Leversee; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren and step-great-great-grandchildren.

A LIMITED SIZE Visitation will be held on Friday, May 7th from 4-7PM at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 3926 South 9th Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49009. Due to current state restrictions, 25 persons will be allowed in the building at one time, social distancing and face masks required.

Another visitation will be held on Saturday, May 8th from 10-11AM at Northwest United Methodist Church, 3140 N. 3rd Street, Kalamazoo, MI, where a service to celebrate Robert's life will begin at 11:00AM on Saturday at the church with Pastor Mark Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in West Oshtemo Cemetery.
