Ricky Allen Smith

Ricky Allen Smith, age 63, of Kalamazoo passed away October 15, 2021. He was born February 22, 1958 in Kalamazoo to the late Dwight and Alice (Kennedy) Smith. He grew up on his grandmother's family farm and valued growing up on the property and having the chance to spend time with his cousins.

Rick was a hardworking contractor and dedicated family man. During his many years in construction, he proved his devotion to caring for his family, employing both his father and his brother. After being persuaded by his family to retire, Rick moved in with his daughter and her fiancé three years ago to begin remodeling their home and spend as much time as he could with his grandchildren. He cherished his relationship with them. He often acted as their chauffer and provided all the support he could give. Rick was also an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved to garden, though he got a bit overzealous at times with its size, and was notorious for having a perfectly mowed lawn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Timothy Smith; as well as a longtime canine companion, Cash.

Ricky is survived by his daughter, Rachelle (Sam Preston) Czuk; son, Travis Smith; grandchildren, Lily, Chloe, Carter, and Caleb; and brothers, Brian and David Smith.

A memorial service will take place Friday, October 22, 2021 at 11:00am at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 622 S Burdick St, Kalamazoo, MI 49007, where the family will greet friends one hour prior from 10:00am until the time of the service.
