Richard Lee Jackson, Sr.

Richard L. Jackson, 80, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 7, 2021. Richard was born December 17, 1940 in Baldwin, MI on his grandparents' farm. He had many fond memories working there as a teenager. He graduated from University High School in Kalamazoo in 1959. He excelled in football, basketball and especially in track. After graduating high school, he attended Western Michigan University for one year before enlisting in the Army. He served in Germany and re-enlisted during the Vietnam War. Richard met Jacque in 1975; they married on July 7, 1976. He has held many jobs during his life including working with the Heat & Frost Insulators, Local 47, construction and custom tile. His last position and most rewarding was facilities manager at Calvary Bible Church, Kalamazoo, MI. The most important event in Richard's life was hearing the gospel for the first time at the age of 59. He believed with his whole heart that Jesus Christ died for his sins and forgave them ALL past, present and future. He was baptized with Jacque in December 2000 at Calvary Bible Church.

Richard was preceded in death by his father, George V. Jackson and mother, Helen Jackson-Knowles and infant brother Alan. Surviving are his wife Jacque; daughter Jennifer L. Crabiel (Michael), grandchildren Cathryn, Zachary, and Elizabeth and son Richard Jr. (Jennifer), grandchildren Jacob and Audrey and brother Donald, Cave Creek, AZ. A private burial will take place at Mt Ever-Rest Memorial Park South. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
