Obituary

Renee Marie Newton, 63, passed away unexpectedly at her home on May 3, 2023. She was born April 6, 1960 in Lincoln Park, Michigan to the late Gordon Arthur and Eleanor Bernice (La Montaine) Trudeau.

Renee loved her family, who affectionately referred to her as the mother hen of their family. She will be especially remembered for her kindness, as well as her great cooking. Renee met Joel Newton in 1989, and they married in 1992 in Hawaii. After moving to Alaska, Renee worked as a health aide for 18 years before eventually working as a hair stylist for many years. It brought much joy to Renee to cook for her family and friends and work with her hair styling clients.

Renee was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her loving husband, Joel Newton; son, Nolan Newton; sister, Michele (Tom Covault) Powers; brother, Chris (Nikki) Trudeau; nephews, Ben (Jamie) Trudeau, Rex (Katelyn) Powers, Wyatt Trudeau, and Tyler Trudeau; many great-nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Mark (Lori) Newton and their family; sister-in-law Nancy (Jim) Weaver and their family; mother-in-law, Bonita Flint; and her best friend, Diane “Nana” Armstrong of Alaska.

Cremation has taken place and private services will be held.
