Peter Gerritt Kuivenhoven

Passed away Friday morning, October 15, 2021, at his home. Peter was born April 1, 1931, in Kalamazoo, the son of Jacob and Jenny (VanDyke) Kuivenhoven, and had been a lifelong resident in the Kalamazoo area. Peter graduated from Kalamazoo Christian High School, began his career at DeNooyer, then answered the call to the military, attaining an Army Corporal. He enjoyed sports was a league bowler and golfer. He shot three hole-in-ones locally. Peter enjoyed his family, had an infectious smile, loved to laugh, gave his children a complete toolbox of life skills, and always was ready with an out-of-the-box solution saturated with wisdom. Peter attended Texas Corners Bible Church and understood the central relationship in life is with Jesus Christ. Please consider giving to his children, Steven, Susan and Lisa for final expenses.

On June 5, 1954, he was united in marriage to Dorothy (Peterson), who preceded him in death on November 17, 2011. He was also preceded in death by a son David; and brothers and sisters, Neil, Angie, Jacob, and Adrian. Peter is survived by his children, Steven Kuivenhoven, Susan Mitchell, Lisa (Allen) Ruthruff; 34 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Connie Phillips; loving companion, Shirley Emaar; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may meet the family from 4:00-8:00 pm Tuesday, October 19 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, 3926 South 9th Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49009. Interment will be in Ft. Custer National Cemetery at 11:00 am Thursday, October 21. Please meet at 9:30 am at 622 South Burdick, Kalamazoo, MI, for a time of family and friend sharing and procession to Ft. Custer.
