Patricia Ann (Young) VanderWeele

Patricia Ann VanderWeele, age 77, died September 12, 2020. She was born March 16, 1943 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the daughter of the late Merlin and Twila (Holm) Young.
On January 13, 1979, Patricia married Larry VanderWeele. She worked as a security guard for Pharmacia and Upjohn companies. She and Larry enjoyed parties at their home and going to her son's bar to watch Lions football games. They also went on many Caribbean cruises together and loved spending time at their condo in Boca Raton, Florida. They also enjoyed visiting casinos, a favorite destination being Tunica, Mississippi. Patricia was always there for anything her grandchildren needed and to lend a listening ear. She will be remembered for her contagious smile and love of dancing.
She is survived by her husband, Larry VanderWeele; her children, Scott (Jackie) Plankenhorn and Jody (Michelle Rome) Lawwill; grandchildren, Sarah Lawwill, Abigail Lawwill, Anna (Mitch) Rooker, Rachel (Tyler Barry) Plankenhorn, Kenton (Jill Audette) Lawwill, Kaleb (Tonia) Lawwill, and Alexus Smith; great-children, Ciarah, August, Ella, Kaleb, and Carter; and brother, Larry Young.
The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 from 4:00-6:00 PM at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 3926 S 9th St, Kalamazoo, Michigan 49009. The funeral home and family respectfully ask everyone to wear masks and keep social distancing as much as possible.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
