Maryann Antoinette (Wisnieski) Salat

Maryann Salat (Wisnieski) of Kalamazoo Michigan passed away at home on July 9,2021. She was born on December 16, 1950 in Michigan City, Indiana to Aurel and Gertrude Wisnieski. Maryann graduated high school in Michigan City and then completed her college career at Indiana University. On April 20, 1974 she was married to her forever loving husband, Edward Salat in Michigan City, Indiana. She retired as a physical therapist from Heritage Community Nursing Home after a 30-year career. After retiring she enjoyed three beautiful relaxing winters in their Lakeland, Florida home. She enjoyed life to the fullest with her new friends. All of her new and old friends enjoyed many delicious meals that she prepared. She enjoyed going to the beautiful pool and exercise areas and taking in the many pleasures that a warm Florida climate brings.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years; children: Ryan (Sara) Salat of Sacramento, California, Evan (Kalyn) Salat of Fishers, Indiana, and Erika (Jerry) Smith of Phoenix, Arizona; three grandchildren Maddie, Cooper, and Beckett; brother, Jon (Jean) Wisnieski; niece, Laura; and Nephew, James.

She was an exceptional cook and an avid seamstress. She enjoyed baking pies, going fishing and especially cherished spending time with friends and family. Per Maryann's wishes there will be no formal funeral ceremony and cremation took place at the Langeland Family Cremation Center in Kalamazoo, Michigan. A private family Celebration of Life will be held in Michigan City, Indiana.
