Mary Lou (Reid) Schmaltz

Mary Lou Schmaltz, age 77, passed away suddenly on April 25, 2021 at her residence in Portage, Michigan. Mary Lou was born September 23, 1943 in Three Oaks, Michigan, the daughter of Harold and Cleo Lowe Reid. On June 23, 1962, she was united in marriage to Gary E. Schmaltz in Three Oaks. She was a lifelong resident of Three Oaks until relocating to Portage for the past 10 years.

Mary Lou enjoyed playing board games with family and friends, caring for her pets and spending time with friends.

Family was a very important part of Mary Lou's life, especially her grandsons. Surviving are her two sons: Craig Schmaltz & wife Michelle Greenlee and Scott Schmaltz & wife Clasey Schmaltz; three grandsons: Reid Schmaltz, C.J. Schmaltz and Christian Larson; and many special friends.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband Gary E. Schmaltz in 2015; by her daughter Angela Lynn Schmaltz Demaria in 2009; by her sister Nancy Glenn and by her parents Harold and Cleo Reid.

In accordance with Mary Lou's wishes cremation has taken place. Due to Covid concerns, a memorial service to celebrate Mary Lou's life will be held at a later date to be announced.
