Marlene Janet Hamilton, a lifelong resident of Kalamazoo, Michigan passed away on August 9, 2020. She was born to Beryl and Jane (Mulder) Hamilton on November 23, 1934 in Kalamazoo, Michigan and was the second oldest of seven siblings.
Marlene was a gifted seamstress and had been employed by Ingling Brothers, Mrs. Ford's Fashion, and Three River's Furs. She also had a love of crafts which included crocheting baby blankets and sewing Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls. There are many babies and children throughout the United States who have enjoyed Marlene's creations. Marlene loved making banana bread and generously distributed samples to her customers. The neighborhood children often were treated with Tootsie Pops, and the neighborhood dogs wagged their tails the minute they saw Marlene in anticipation of a doggie treat. Marlene was a kind, giving, and gentle lady.
Marlene was preceded in death by her father, mother and half-sister, Janet Blesch. She leaves behind her daughter, Cindy Hyde, her granddaughter, Morgan (Justin) Hyde, and Jeremy Harness, a young man who called her grandma, her brothers, James Hamilton and Ronald (Molly) Hamilton, her sisters, Joyce King, Beverly Clay, Shirley (Ronald) Ruster, and Carol (John) Whitehead, along with many nieces and nephews.
Marlene was a member of the gracespring Bible Church. A graveside service will be held at Mt. Ever Rest Memorial Park South, 3941 South Westnedge Avenue, Kalamazoo on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at 1:00 PM.
