Luella Overbeek, 82, went peacefully into the arms of her savior Jesus, with her husband at her side, early Labor Day morning.
Luella was born on March 25, 1939. After graduating from high school, she went on to nursing school and received her nursing degree. Luella married Dale Overbeek on September 3, 1960, and recently celebrated their 61st anniversary. Together they raised three sons.
She was an encouraging optimist and was passionate about her Christian faith and family. She enjoyed teaching junior girls Sunday School and being busy at home. Her many activities included bird watching, gardening, quilt making, reading, baking, canning, and doing puzzles. She also enjoyed golfing and was the president of her golf league. Many winters were spent enjoying southern California, where she enjoyed golfing and hiking the beautiful mountains.
She is survived by her husband Dale; Sons - Todd and Michelle Overbeek, John and Michelle Overbeek, and Chad and Stacey Overbeek; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; brothers- Ken and Pat Wiggers, and Curt and Lynell Wiggers; sister - Carol and Larry Caywood, as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11am to 12pm on Friday, September 10, 2021 at Berean Baptist Church, 7813 South 12th Street, Portage, MI 49024. The funeral service will begin at 12:00pm at the church with Pastor Bill Abernathy officiating. Immediately following the service will be a time of food and fellowship in the church hall. A private family interment will be held in Ft. Custer National Cemetery.
