JOHNSON, Lorraine
Richland Lorraine Johnson, the daughter of Henry and Ida Larson, was born March 25, 1927 in Swedish Covenant Hospital of Chicago, IL. She went on to be with the Lord, whom she dearly loved, on July 12, 2007 at 10:40 am. She now rests in peace. She will be missed. She leaves behind her loving family: husband, Rev. Leroy Johnson; brother Dr. Richard Larson, wife Joann and family; sister-in-law Lenore Larson and family; three daughters, Shirley and husband Nick Scholten, Linda Johnson and Sherry Gray; grandchildren Karen and husband Rod Sheerin, Dianne and husband Bill Axle, Brenda and husband Kevin McWilliams, Mary and husband Scott Ranzal, Deanna and Danielle Gray; great-grandchildren, Nickie and Rod Sheerin, Samantha Waldorf, Brook McWilliams, Billie and Kyle Axle. Lorraine graduated from North Park Academy and North Park Jr. College. She got her Bachelors? Degree and Master?s Degree from Western Michigan University. She then taught in Kalamazoo Public Schools at Spring Valley Elementary School and became an Instructional Specialist at Greenwood Elementary School. She retired in 1987. Lorraine was a loving and caring mother and she was an exceptional pastor?s wife, having served together with her husband in a small country church north of Minneapolis and a larger church in the Twin cities. Followed by a move to Richland where they served at the Covenant Church for eight years and then the Yorkville Community Church. She worked with the Ladies Guild at Yorkville and visited those in need. She enjoyed spending time making cards/crafts. She sent them for hope, encouragement and general delight to her family and friends. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at Yorkville Community Church, 11523 East ?D? Ave. on Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at 2:00 pm with the Rev. Shan Martin officiating. Memorial contributions in Lorraine?s memory may be designated for the Yorkville Community Church or the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission.
