Lonnie Earl Kuntzman

Lonnie Earl Kuntzman, 87, passed away Friday, April 3, 2020. He was born July 20, 1932 in Norwood, Ohio a son of Basil and Vonnie (Smith) Kuntzman. Lonnie joined the US Air Force in 1952 and was honorably discharged in 1956. He became a certified tool and die maker and worked for General Motors in Ohio and Michigan before retiring. Lonnie enjoyed bird watching and was a certified bird bander at the Kalamazoo Nature Center for many years. He always enjoyed winning at board and card games and loved to tell lots of silly jokes. Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Wayne Kuntzman. Surviving are his wife, Sharon Kuntzman; son, Steven (Howard Tejchma) Kuntzman; Sharon's daughter, Melanie (James) Bryer; daughter-in-law, Debra Kuntzman; four grandchildren, Nicholas (Kristi) Kuntzman, Christina (Jack) Deryke, Teressa (Jason) Schrock and Neil Bryer; three siblings, Marlene Carrier, Doris Dusini and Robert Kuntzman; five half-siblings, Freddie, Kenny, Ricky, Cheryl and Dottie; and many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. A service to celebrate Lonnie's life will be held later this year at First Congregational Church, 345 W. Michigan Ave. Kalamazoo, MI 49007. Private inurnment will be held later in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be directed to the Kalamazoo Nature Center.
