Leslie A Sims, Sr.

Galesburg

Leslie A. Sims, Sr. passed away peacefully in the early hours of March 15, 2023, at the Laurels of Galesburg. He was the son of Wallace and Gladys (Cantrell) Sims, born on April 13, 1931, in Moulton, AL.

Leslie served in the United States Army. After his service, he worked for 25 years at General Motors.

Leslie enjoyed traveling, especially home to Alabama and across the American southwest. He was fond of Western films and shows as well as country music, especially Elvis and Conway Twitty. Above all, he was a hard worker.

Leslie is survived by his children Daniel (Tina) French, LouAnn Green, Kim Demarse, Laurie Sims, Les Sims Jr., and Larry Sims; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; several siblings; and close friends Jerry and Carol Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter LeAnn Sims; and another daughter Baby Girl Sims.

Services for Leslie will be held on Monday, March 20, 2023, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes 622 S. Burdick St. Kalamazoo, MI 49007. A visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm. Burial will follow at 2:00 pm at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Veterans Association of America 511 West 165th St. Unit 309 New York, NY 10032.
