Passed away on 20 November 2020. Red was born 1 May 1923 in Grand Rapids, MI. He was the 3rd son of John Hikade and Minnie Christiansen. He attended Grand Rapids Junior College and was employed with Michigan Bell/AT&T. Red proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corps in both World War II and the Korean War. Red volunteered for the West Michigan Cancer Center, Meals on Wheels, and Habitat for Humanity. His accomplishments included his model railroads, world travel, and constructing his summer home on Crystal Lake. Red raised 3 daughters with his wife Norma, who sadly passed away on October 24, 2001 after 54 years of happily married life. Red is survived by Kathe Ashworth of Vancouver, BC, Canada, Mary (Dr. Robert) Page of Portage, and Patricia (George) Bearup of Traverse City; seven grandchildren, Steve (Ela), Scott (Kelly), Sara (Jeremy), Emma, Libby, Brooke (Eric) and Jay; seven great-grandchildren, Lincoln, Sullivan, Brigid, Aloysius, Willa, Sutton, and Cassie; grand-dog Murphy. At his request cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or funeral services. Wunderbar!!
