Kenneth Skees

SKEES, Kenneth
of Kalamazoo, MI Passed away September 7, 2009 at his home. He was born February 20, 1953 in Kalamazoo, to the late Charles and Ethel Smith Skees. Ken was united in marriage on February 6, 1983 to Cindy Thurmond, who survives. Ken loved his entire family, especially spending time and watching movies with his children and grandchildren. He also was an avid collector of Elvis memorabilia, his favorite pastime, and laid claim to being his biggest fan. Even with the struggle he faced, Ken still loved life and always looked forward to the future. His strength was immeasurable. Also surviving Ken are his children, Robert Thurmond and Dori Thurmond-Skees, both of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Troy Moline, Chelsea Esseltine and Cara Thurmond; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Also preceding Ken in death were brothers, Gerald Skees and Robert Skees; and sister, Marilyn "Sissy" Willis. Visitations will be Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8:00pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St., where services will take place, Friday, 2:00pm, Pastor Greg Silvey, officiating. Memorials in Ken's name may be directed to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
