Funeral services will be held Saturday May 14, 2022 at 11:30am at Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
Kenneth Waldron Cross Sr., son of John Lovett Cross and Lula Mae Williams-Cross, was born June 11, 1939 in West Palm Beach, Florida. He moved to Michigan with his parents when he was only seven years old. Kenny accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized in Detroit, Michigan as a young boy. When they moved to Kalamazoo, he attended Lincoln Elementary, Comstock Middle, and Kalamazoo Central High School. Kenny moved to Chicago, Illinois and worked for Canada Dry as a truck driver. He later moved back to Kalamazoo, MI in 1964. Where he worked, at Superior Cleaners until his employment at Borgess Hospital from 1977 - 1992 where he retired. Kenny loved being outside enjoying the fresh air and sun. He spent his free time fishing, hunting, and camping and also enjoyed bowling and was a professional-level boxer during his early years. Among his many talents included building homes, electrical work, and anything he set his mind to do. Kenny married Frances Stafford-McGinnis in 1957. To this union they had seven children. In 1986, he married Susan Cross and had one child.
Kenneth Cross departed this life on Friday, May 6, 2022. He was preceded in death by his father, John Lovett Cross, mother, Lula Mae Williams-Cross; siblings: John Lovett Cross Jr., Louis Barrow Cross, Harvey Tinder Cross, Eugene Allen Cross, James Cross, and Marvin Jerome Cross and great grandchild: Zahrielle Aryssah Ware. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Susan Jean Cross and their dog, Shadow; one sister, Delores (Rodney) Cross-Phillips; eight children: Luanne Williams, Kenny (Bonnie) Cross Jr., Derotha (Kevin) Perkins, Wanda (Troy) Malone, Celia Cross, Felecia Ware, Jolane Crowther, Arthur John Cross, and adopted daughter, Donna Ard; three stepchildren: Wendy Smith, Victoria Smith, and Tamara Sunland; 30 grandchildren, 65 great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
