Karen Kristine (Cox) Bresson

October 1, 1950 — July 17, 2020

Karen passed away Friday, July 17, 2020 surrounded by her loving family after a long-fought battle with cancer. Karen was born October 1, 1950 the youngest child of John and Vonda (Banghart) Cox. Karen was united in marriage to Richard Bresson on August 23, 1969. They spent 47 wonderful years married and were happily the parents of three sons. Karen enjoyed nothing more than spending time with those she loved. The family has many great memories of traveling and spending time at the family cabin. Karen was blessed with two granddaughters, Rieley and Morgan, who she considered the greatest gift. Karen and Rick owned and operated Galesburg Hardware and were lifelong residents of the Galesburg/Kalamazoo area. She was proud of her son, Scott, in taking on and growing the family business. Karen was also the City Clerk for Galesburg and has many great memories of the community including working closely with her son Bill for many years. On weekends you could count on seeing Karen with her son, Matt, enjoying a meal out. Surviving are her three sons, Scott Bresson of Galesburg, Bill (Laura) Bresson of Augusta, Matt Bresson (Greg Marvin) of Richland; her two granddaughters, Rieley and Morgan; her mother, Vonda Cox; her sisters Wilma Kyle, Maxine (Glen) Dunham, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. Karen was preceded in death by her husband Rick, his parents Milton and Thelma; her father, John Cox; and her brother David Cox. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan, 222 N Kalamazoo Mall #100, Kalamazoo, MI 49007. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
