Joseph David Maronto, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2020 at home with his family by his side after a six-month battle with acute myeloid leukemia. Joe was born May 15, 1952 in Chicago Illinois. Joe was a caring, giving and wonderful husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend.
Joe was proceeded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Pam in 2003 and by his father Phillip Maronto in 2017.
Surviving are his loving daughter Missy (Scott) Franczak; four of the best grandchildren in the world who he loved very much: Stephanie, Cory, Colton and Courtney Franczak; his mother Rose Maronto; brother Steve (Nancy) Maronto; sister Gina (Mark) Atilano and many nieces and nephews.
Prior to Joe's retirement, he worked for several businesses including GM, he was in the masonry business and he was a very gifted auto body man who loved to restore cars. After his retirement, Joe moved to Michigan to help care for his parents. Joe was an avid fan of the Chicago White Sox and the Chicago Bears and enjoyed watching their games. He loved his dog Anna.
The family has been overwhelmed with the love and support for Joe, from friends and family, with the cards, calls and visits. The family would like to thank the entire University of Michigan Ann Arbor team of Doctors and Nurses for the wonderful care and support while he was in the hospital.
He was a member of St. Catherine of Sienna Church in Portage Michigan.
Joe's interment will take place at St. Mary Cemetery in Evergreen Park, Illinois. Arrangements were entrusted to Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 622 S Burdick St, Kalamazoo, MI 49007.
