John Leo Prendergast

John "Jack" Prendergast, age 77, passed away November 12, 2021. He was born December 7, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Patrick and Catherine (Doran) Prendergast.

Jack was ordained in ministry in Rockford, Illinois and served as a permanent deacon with the Diocese of Kalamazoo. Woodworking was Jack's passion—he was always looking for his next project.

Jack is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Prendergast; children, Dawn Prendergast, Timothy (Amanda) Prendergast, Colleen (Bill Whipps) Heflin, and Kevin Heflin; grandchildren, Rose Prendergast, Stella Heflin, and Lucy Heflin; as well as a brother, James (Joanne) Prendergast.

The family will greet friends Tuesday, November 16, 2021 from 5:30-7:30pm at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Parish, 1150 W Centre Ave, Portage, MI 49024. A deacon prayer service will follow at 7:30pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, November 17 at 11:00am, with visitation one hour prior from 10-11:00am.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul of St. Catherine of Siena Church or the St. Catherine of Siena Parish.
