John Robert Burgess, passed away at his home on Saturday, May 30, 2020 at the age of 87. John was born on January 14, 1933 in Kalamazoo, Michigan to the late John Burgess and Eliza (Rench) Burgess.

John met his beloved wife, Sandra (Burke) Burgess, at Oakwood Bible Church, whom he's been married to for 61 years. He worked for Fuller Transmission, which later became Eaton Corporation for 32 years and then went on to work for Stryker. John thoroughly enjoyed sports such as softball, golf, and was an avid bowler. John served in the United States Navy and was a member at Northeastern Baptist Church.

John was preceded in death by his parents and sisters: Doris Westdorp, Loretta Bailey and Henrietta Baker.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Burgess, son Randall (Joann) Burgess, daughter Renee (Darren) Keys; 10 grandchildren: Jessica (Toby) Padilla, Amber (Tyler) Farr, Ethan Kalkman, Cody Kalkman, Karly (Caleb) Farr, Sheldon Kalkman, Samantha Kalkman, Phoebe Kalkman, Evan Burgess, Jacob Burgess; 3 great-grand children: Rosie Farr, Mirabelle Farr, Oliver Farr. John is also survived by his sister Bernice Rabb and several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements for John were entrusted to Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 622 S Burdick St, Kalamazoo, MI 49007. A private interment will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
