Joan Elaine (Slentz) Beebe

Joan Elaine Beebe passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2021. She was born December 18, 1933 in Napoleon, Ohio to the late Roy and Byrde (Miller) Slentz.

Joan grew up on a farm in Ohio and attended Heidelberg College and Bowling Green State University receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Education. She taught for a few years in Parma before becoming a full-time homemaker after moving to San Diego with her husband, Tom, whom she married July 8, 1960. Joan was musically inclined and was an excellent pianist and enjoyed gardening. She was very involved in her son, Jim's life, as a Den Mother and always attending his extracurricular activities. After retirement, she and Tom became regular cyclists, biking up to 20 miles per day.

Joan was preceded in death by loving husband Paul "Tom" Beebe in 2018, as well as brother, Vince Slentz.

She is survived by her son, Jim (Amy) Beebe; four grandchildren, Madison, Samantha (Samuel Mast), Kayla, and Alexander; sister-in-law Audrey Slentz; and sister, Marilyn Slentz.

A service will be held Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at 2:00pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 411 E Centre Ave, Portage, MI 49002, where the family will greet friends from 1-2:00pm. Interment will follow in Portage South Cemetery.
