Janet Elaine (Tamplin) Barker

Janet Elaine (Tamplin) Barker, of Mattawan, MI passed away on April 2nd, 2021 while surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 23, 1938 to the late Byron and Gertrude (Doorenbos) Tamplin. Janet was born and raised in Kalamazoo and graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School. She retired from AAA after 25 years of service there. She attended West Oshtemo Baptist Church. Janet loved sewing, knitting and crocheting. She enjoyed camping, traveling, car shows, socializing and dancing at the Eagles Lodge and Moose Lodge. She especially cherished spending time with her family and friends.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law, Eric Carlson; stepbrother, James (Glenna) Tamplin and stepsister, Marclene Tamplin. She is survived by her husband, Jerry D. Barker; children: Connie, Mike and Steve (Angie) Wesseling; stepchildren: Roxanne (Roger) Griffith, Marlene (David) Hall, Mark (Patty) Barker, Karen (Bruce) Baugher, and Jerelyn Dawn (Rick) Doest; 22 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sister, Lois Carlson, as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 3rd, 2021 located at 48122 33rd Street, Paw Paw, MI, 49079. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in honor of Janet to the Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Foundation at www.komen.org
