James Kenneth Ames, Sr.

James Kenneth Ames passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, in Kalamazoo, MI. Jim was born March 13, 1949, in Vicksburg, MI. The son of Lloyd and Nellie (Russell) Franks was later adopted by Arthur and Sally Ames. Jim graduated from Vicksburg High School and then served his country by joining the Navy. After many years, Jim retired from Comstock Public Schools. While he enjoyed working on cars, hunting, fishing, traveling, camping; Jim loved and lived for his family.

In 1972, Jim met the love of his life. Jim and Jean M. (Hall) married on April 26, 1974. After many loved filled years, Jean passed away on October 3, 2009. Jim is survived by his children, Timothy M. (Alicia) of Eugene, OR, Tina M. (Kenneth) of Kalamazoo, Michelle L. (Bob) of Kalamazoo, James K., II (Jennifer) of Vicksburg, Terry L. (Sarah) of Kalamazoo; 9 grandchildren, Amber (Michael), Jason, Brandon, Joshua, Aliyah (Kristopher), Calvin, Tyler (Isavelle), Jacob and Mackenzie; 3 great grandchildren, Kennedy, Aria, and Willow; and many brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held 4 to 7pm Monday, May 16, 2022, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 622 S. Burdick St, Kalamazoo, MI 49007, where funeral services will be held 11am Tuesday, May 17th, 2022, with the family officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
