Howard L. Garnaat

Howard Lee Garnaat (Howie, Big H), age 69 of  Gobles, MI passed away peacefully in his sleep on the night of March 17th, 2023. He was born October 20th, 1953 in Portage, MI to Donald and Marilyn (Sabin) Garnaat. 

He is preceded in death by Elmer and Blanche, (Maternal Great-Grandfather & Grandmother) Henry and Helen (Paternal Great-Grandfather & Grandmother) Donald and Marilyn (Parents) and Edward A. Garnaat (Brother) 

He is survived by two sisters Joyce Mahoney and Carol Bolton, his lifelong friend Deborah Wolthuis of 20 years, and Edward L. Garnaat (Son), Amber Skiba (Daughter), Nathan and Cassandra (Garnaat) Armstrong. (Daughter), Christopher Garnaat (Son), and ten beautiful grandchildren. 

Howard was a 1973 graduate of Portage Central High School. He also worked as a Press Operator for Checker Motors for 37 years.

Howard was a kind and thoughtful soul and will be missed and remembered by the many lives he touched. He enjoyed entertaining friends and family with bonfires, BBQ's and good music, playing the Lottery, taking long drives and singing to whomever was in his passenger seat.

Howard everyone you left in this world grieves that you are gone, but we are happy that you are walking with the Lord. We will always love and miss you until we can meet again.

The Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday May 7th, 2023, 2:00pm-6:00pm at The Portage/Schoolcraft Eagles Aerie 3531 11611 South Shaver Road Schoolcraft, MI 49087
