Portage, MI Died June 9, 2008 at the Bronson Adult Medical Unit in Kalamazoo. She was born October 4, 1915 in Chicago, IL to the late Sam and Diena Borg Klein. She was united in marriage to James Dekema on October 4, 1940, who preceded her in death on April 7, 2002. Also preceding her in death were brothers, Jacob and John Klein; sisters, Diana Klein and Effie Walters. Henrietta is survived by her children, Kyle Jan Dekema of Kalamazoo and Keith Jan Dekema of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Megan, Jacob, Amber and Natalie; brother, George Evelyn Klein; sister, Betty Welch; brother-in-law, Harris Walters; and many nieces and nephews. Henrietta and James were founding members of Hope Reformed Church in Kalamazoo and in later years, became members of Community Presbyterian Church in Kalamazoo. She loved and cared for her family and when time permitted, she loved to garden at her lake home. A memorial service will be held Thursday, the 12th , 2:00 o'clock at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street, Kalamazoo, Rev. Timothy Bero, officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday, the 11th at the Westside Chapel from 2-4 and 6-8:00PM. A committal service will take place on Thursday, the 12th, 11:00 o'clock at East Martin Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be directed to the Community Presbyterian Church, 2131 Alamo Ave., Kalamazoo, MI 49006.
