Gary M. Koch passed away Tuesday morning, May 4, 2021. Gary was born on August 26, 1947 in Manitowoc, WI, the son of Harold and Mary (Keating) Koch.

Gary graduated from Lincoln High School in Manitowoc in 1965. He earned a bachelor's degree in history from Wisconsin State University, graduating in 1970.

On November 7, 1970, Gary married Linda (Kiesner), and the two went on to have two daughters. Gary and Linda celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in November 2020.

Gary worked as an insurance investigator for Liberty Mutual. He was with the company for 35 years, retiring in 2005.

Gary was an avid reader and had a sharp and clever sense of humor. He spoke Spanish, loved music, and played guitar. Before college, he played music with his brothers, and he formed a band with friends in Manitowoc, playing various parties and local social events (which is how he met Linda).

What Gary loved most was the outdoors. As a kid, he enjoyed spending summers at his family cottage on the West Twin River, waterskiing and riding his horse. He enjoyed fishing, ice skating, canoeing, and gardening. He loved to see the country, especially visiting the national parks, hiking, and camping with his family.

Gary is survived by his wife, Linda, and his daughters, Nina Asunto and Andrea Koch. Also surviving are his brothers, Dale (Sandy) Koch, Kevin Koch, and Neil Koch, and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers to the family, those who wish to honor Gary's memory are invited to make a donation to the National Park Foundation, https://www.nationalparks.org or to their favorite local park or preserve.
