Gary Alan Johnson, 65, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, in early February 2021. He was born in Kalamazoo, MI. on January 25, 1956, preceded in death by his parents William and Maxine Dowler Johnson. He attended Kalamazoo Valley Community College and was a graduate of the University of Detroit School of Architecture. He was an architect with Tower Pinkster in Kalamazoo for 37 years and considered the firm a part of his family. Gary was also an active member of "Word for Life Church of God" in Kalamazoo MI. He enjoyed playing golf and attending auto shows to dream of owning a sports car, which eventually he did. Gary was a caring and loving husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend and he will be dearly missed. Along with his loving wife Laura of 35 years, he is survived by his son Nicholas; his brothers Chris Johnson and wife Anna; David Johnson and wife Jenny; Steven Johnson and wife Serap; his sister-in-law LuAnn Johnson; nephew William and nieces Lorrie, Melissa, Tina, and Marla along with their families; and second cousins Jill and Jody. A private burial for family members will be held at Mount Ever Rest Memorial Park South. In lieu of a funeral there will be a memorial service for Gary and Laura on Saturday, June 26, 2021. All family and friends are invited to attend. Information will be posted on Facebook. Gary loved his job as an architect which allowed him to make a difference in his community. He always had a smile on his face and a joke to tell making a difference in the lives of all those he came in contact with. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in honor of Gary to the Leukemia Foundation
