Passed away peacefully Sunday evening March 22, 2020 at her home with her family around her. Evelyn was born September 7, 1937 in Kalamazoo, Michigan a daughter of James and Esther (Barber) Carson. She had been a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident and co-owned Story's Grocery Store for over 37 years with her husband before retiring. Evelyn was also a member of First Freewill Baptist Church. She loved The Lord, playing games with her grandchildren, watching movies and traveling. Evie also enjoyed playing the bass guitar with family and friends at her music hall. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerry H. Story on April 30, 2007; 3 brothers, Jim, George, Bill Carson; and a sister, Beverly Carson. Evelyn is survived by 4 children, Monti (Bill) Snyder of North Carolina, Martha (Kurt) Miskowski of Kalamazoo, Kim (Joel) Coburn of Scotts, and Sue Story of Kalamazoo; 21 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, Nick (Elsie) Carson of Kalamazoo; a sister, Elaine (Ralph) Brand of Portage; 4 sisters-in-law, Leann and Helen Carson, Evelyn and Lena Story; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Private services will be held at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 622 S Burdick St, Kalamazoo, MI 49007. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Comstock.
