Elsie T. Mejeur

October 8, 1919 — May 3, 2013

MEJEUR, ELSIE T. Elsie Trena Mejeur is now absent from the body and present with her dear Lord Jesus. Elsie was born October 8, 1919 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Lawrence and Blanche VanderWeele Wolthuis and passed away May 3, 2013. She was a longtime Kalamazoo area resident and was employed by American National Bank for 20 years as an elevator operator and hostess. Elsie was a member of Kalamazoo Bible Church where she had taught Sunday School for 18 years. She had a gift of providing counsel to younger women and prayed faithfully for her family and friends. Elsie was currently a member of Calvary Bible Church. She enjoyed reading and crocheting, but the most important part of her life was her family. On May 28, 1941, she married Leonard Mejeur, who preceded her in death on March 15, 2008. She was also preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Jeannette Wolthuis, Martha Catherman and Helen Bennett. Surviving are her children, Carol James Carpenter of Aurora, IL, Sharon Mejeur of Fort Wayne, IN and Linda David Elwell of Mattawan; four grandchildren, Stephen Melinda Carpenter, Deborah Joshua Volkening, Emily Ivan Birochak and Paul Heather Elwell; eleven great grandchildren, Annmarie, Kaitlin, Ethan, Eli, Bethany and Lillian Volkening, Vincent and Leopold Birochak, Caleb, Zachariah and Rebecca Elwell; nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday at 11:00 AM in the sanctuary of Calvary Bible Church, 855 S. Drake Rd. with Rev. John Barnett officiating. The family will receive friends at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th St. on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Calvary Bible Church.
