Duane Gordon Metty was born October 21, 1933, to Donald and Ethel (Richmond) Metty of Mendon, Michigan. After Ethel passed away, Donald married Tena (Noble) Metty which was Duane's stepmother since he was 18 months old.

Duane graduated from Athens High School in 1952. He was drafted into the Army and served in the Korean War in the 8th Army 13th Helicopter Division. Duane worked at the Lakeside Refinery for 16 years, and then he worked at the Fisher Body Plant until 1993, retiring with 25 years in the Welder Maintenance Department. He was a member of the Climax American Legion and a Lifetime member of the Amvets Post 1988 in Baldwin, Michigan.

Duane was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Loraine Weck and Donna Homan and brother, Melvin "Hoot" Metty. Duane leaves his wife Marilyn, several nieces and nephews, and his cat Tipper.

A memorial service will be held from 1 to 4pm on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at the Climax American Legion Post #465, 6101 South 44th Street, Climax, MI 49088. Memorial contributions may be made to the Climax American Legion Post #465, the Scotts Community Center, or charity of your choice.
