Doyal Northrup

Doyal Northrup, age 97 of Portage, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2023. He was born on January 9, 1926, in Shelby, Michigan, the son of Armand and Enola (Brigham) Northrup. The family moved to a farm in Pearl, Michigan, where he graduated from Fennville High School. Doyal enlisted into the U.S. Army Air Corp. during WWII and after serving he received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army. He married Betty Adkin on September 27, 1947. Doyal worked as a journeyman electrician I.B.E.W. and retired from R.W. Leet Electric. He was a member of Pathfinder Church. Doyal was very close with his family. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and loved judging field trials for Brittany Spaniels. His family includes his wife of 75 years, Betty Northup; his children: Connie Hatfield-Kirk and Ginny (Jim) Cronkhite; his grandchildren: Brian Hatfield, Chris (Jennifer) Hatfield, Cory (Amanda) Cronkhite; Christy (Kris) Winkle; his great-grandchildren: Zachary and Seth Hatfield, Dominick, Colin, Blake, and Allaina Hatfield; and nieces and nephews: Sally Beyer, Ron (Diane) Northrup and Amy (Steve) Collins and several great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers: Norris (Dona) Northrup and Elwin (Aileen) Northrup and nephew Thomas Northrup.

Friends may gather with Doyal’s family on Wednesday, February 22nd, 2023, from 12:00-1:00 PM, at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Burial & Cremation Services, 411 E. Centre Avenue, Portage, 49002, where a funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park, North.
