Dorothy M. (Stoughton) Sieting

Dorothy M. Sieting, age 89 of Galesburg, went to be with her Lord and Savior with her family by her side at Bronson Hospital on March 15, 2023. She was born on April 2, 1933, in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Clifford and Nettie (Rose) Stoughton.

In 1949, Dorothy met Alan Sieting who had just moved to the area. Alan and Dorothy were married on August 19, 1950, and moved to Galesburg. Dorothy truly loved being a wife and mother and later a grandmother. Gathering the family together was her greatest joy. Alan and Dorothy were active members of Calvary Bible Church, where they served as greeters and helping with the bulletins. They enjoyed golfing together. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary before Alan’s death in 2020.

Dorothy also spent many hours in her gardens and tending to her yard. She enjoyed scrapbooking, putting together photo albums, and quilting. Dining out with her family was as a highlight of her week.

The last 3 years, Dorothy resided at the Vineyard and loved her new community. She cherished her new friendship with resident Pat Rizzolo, who became her best friend.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Alan; her granddaughter, Robin Maxson; her grandson, Douglas Tyler, Jr.; and her sisters, Anna Faye Harper, Patty Gillispie, and Ette Marie.  

Dorothy is survived by her children: Susan (Marty) Bair, Pamela (Douglas) Tyler, Kimberlee Lofts, and Alan (Lynea) Sieting, Jr.; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; her sister Emmajean Hewitt; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 21st from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Calvary Bible Church, 855 S. Drake Rd, Kalamazoo, MI 49009, where services will begin at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Dan Johnson officiating. Graveside services will be held in Lodi Cemetery, Orange Township, MI in April.
