Donald "Bud" Adams Laurian

Don "Bud" joined the Navy at 17 and served as a petty officer on the U.S.S. Valentine AF47 in the South Pacific and China Sea. He was awarded The American Theater Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal, China Service Medal, Asia Occupation Medal, Victory Medal and Cold War Commendation. After being discharged he graduated from Kalamazoo Central in 1947.

Don was employed at KVP Sutherland, (Brown Co.) for 21 years as a production line supervisor. He retired from Monarch Marking Systems (Pitney Bowes), Dayton, Ohio in 1993 after 28 years as a field engineer.

Don was a charter member of Paw Paw Elks Club #2511 where at various times he served as treasurer, chaplin, trustee, and banquet director. He was a charter and life member of VFW #5855 in Portage and a long time member of Moose Lodge #88 in Portage. He was also a member of the Otsego Elks #1711 and a member of Paw Paw Eagles.

Don enjoyed people, and led an active life which included sky diving, riding motorcycles, auto racing and classic cars.

Don is survived by daughters; Vicki (Gary) Nicholls, Val (Dave) Babbitt, 3 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. Also survived by siblings; Lloyd (Barb) Laurian and Helen Frisbie.

Preceded in death by his parents, Donald (Reah) Laurian, wife of 69 years Phyllis Laurian, siblings; Norma Wells, Doris Plummer, Terence Laurian and brother in law Ken Frisbie.
