Debora Lee (DeBaldo) Skalski

Debora Lee Skalski passed away Saturday, May 7, 2022, at the age of 73. She was born in Detroit, MI on March 11, 1949, to the late Francis and Mary (Jones) DeBaldo. Debora earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Education and was an elementary and middle school teacher most of her career, and also worked many years doing home child care. She married Frederick Skalski in Westland, MI on September 28, 1974 and shared nearly 45 years of marriage before his death in 2019. Debora was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church where she was a eucharistic minister, sacristan, and helped with Travel Chalice Bag and Prayer for Vocations. She was also involved with senior quilting and Art and Environment.

Debora is survived by her two children, Vincent Skalski and Heather Hixson; three grandchildren, Katerina Hixson, Lillian (Stephen Nagy) Hixson and Alexander Hixson; brother, Michael DeBaldo. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Frederick.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, May 20, 2022, at 11:00 am at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church 1150 W Centre Ave. Portage, MI 49024. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment with her husband will take place at Ft. Custer National Cemetery.
