Clarence Eugene Gerlofs

Clarence Gerlofs, was born September 1, 1930 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the son of Garret and Sinnie Gerlofs. He went home to be with his Lord on November 29, 2020 in Kalamazoo. Clare graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School. He joined the Army during the Korean Conflict, where he played on the Army baseball team. On October 13, 1954 he was united in marriage to Maybelle Adams who preceded him in death on May 5, 2011. He was also preceded in death by his parents, a sister Dorothy Hoeksema and brother in law Ed Klepper. He is survived by a daughter Kim (Dan) Scheffers, three grandchildren, Kelli (Steve) Herder, Michelle (Kaj) Carlson and Jason (Jessica) Scheffers, six great grandchildren, Jayden and Avery may Herder, Rylee Mae and Myles Carlson, Emmie May and Rhett Scheffers, a sister Betty (Ed) Klepper and a sister-in-law Jaqueline Adams. He loved to spend time with his family, especially those great grandchildren. He loved to play golf and help out with family projects whenever he could. For many years he enjoyed designing kitchens for people. He worked for Miller Lumber, The Worthington Co, Johnson Howard and his all time favorite VanDam & Krusinga. He had so many friends at Park Village Pines where he spent his last few years. He was a lifelong member of Centerpoint Church where he served as a deacon, lawn crew, usher and was a member of the Seniors. Due to Covid there will not be a funeral. A private Interment will take place at Fort Custer Cemetery. A special thanks goes out to the staff at Park Village Pines and Oakview Terrace.
