Christopher F. Falcon

June 4, 1973 — September 28, 2020

FALCON, CHRISTOPHER F.
of Kalamazoo, MI & Virginia Beach, VA

Christopher Franklin Falcon, age 47, passed away suddenly Monday, September 28, 2020 at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan of a massive heart attack. Chris was born June 4, 1973 in Osceola, Arkansas, to the late Gary Falcon and Martha Overby (Boone). He was raised by his parents James & Ruth Ouding, Sr. from the age of three months. On March 19, 1994, he was united in marriage to Stephanie (Hansen) Falcon.

Chris proudly and honorably served in the U.S. Navy for over 15 years. He served first at the Navy Handling Cargo Port Group in Williamsburg, VA then he was transferred to the USS Bridge in Bremerton, WA. He left the Navy for a short time in 1999. But, after 9/11 he felt he should be back with his fellow sailors. He returned in 2001 and joined the crew to the USS Kearsarge in 2002 where he stayed for over 5 years and finally became a shellback. His final active duty station was at a shore command with NOB Norfolk where he learned what it was like to have a ship return home after months of deployment from the perspective of family that patiently awaited a loved ones return. He continued to serve in his own way by becoming a member of the Virginia Beach VFW Post 392.

Chris had many passions in his life both while in the Navy and after separation, like riding his Harley everywhere regardless if there was a vehicle full of people to ride with, because of his intellect life did not stop and he expressed it through artistic expressions like writing poetry, painting and drawing portraits and landscapes, however, the majority of his time was devoted to his family. He would frequently take his family on small trips so they could experience these moments with him. More than anything Chris loved his family, spending time with them and having a quiet family night at home would always be alright with him. Chris was the true patriarch of his family, he led them through many trials and would get them through many difficult and trying times they came across. He is and will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years Stephanie Falcon; three children Justin (Karisa) Hansen-Falcon, Courtney Falcon and Hali Falcon; his father James Ouding, Sr.; his brother James Ouding, Jr.; and many other special family members and friends. Chris was preceded in death by his son Tristan John Falcon; his biological parents Gary Falcon & Martha Overby (Boone); his mother Ruth Ouding; and by his sister and brother in law Patricia and David Hudson.

In accordance with Chris' wishes cremation has taken place. Private family graveside services with full military honors will be held in Ft. Custer National Cemetery at 9:30 AM on the 9th of October. A celebration of Chris' life service will be held on Friday, October 9th at 1:00pm at First Freewill Baptist Church, 630 Moline Street with Pastor Dean Sanford officiating.
