Carolyn J. (VandenBrand) Veen

Went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday afternoon, April 30, 2022. Carolyn was born June 1, 1929 in Grand Haven, MI the daughter of Anthony and Jeanette (Poel) VandenBrand. Carolyn graduated from Calvin College and taught elementary school in Chicago, Grand Haven and substituted for many years in Kalamazoo. Carolyn loved caring for and spending time with her family. Carolyn enjoyed tending flowers in her yard and around her home. Carolyn was a faithful bible study pen pal with inmates through Crossroads Prison Ministries.

On August 8, 1958 she was united in marriage to her loving husband, John "Wes" Veen who preceded her in death on December 17, 2002. Carolyn was also preceded in death by a brother, Howard; and several brother and sisters-in-law. She is survived by her children, Dan (Kim) Veen, Faith (Rick) Huyser; grandchildren, Emily (Keith) Sikkema, Betsy (Kyle) VanKooten, Anna (Jake) Rykse, Mya, Makenna, Eli, and Isaac Veen; 5 great-grandchildren; sister and brother, Betty (Shuart) Kuik, Fred (Martha) VandenBrand; brother-in-law, Jim (Marilyn) Veen; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may meet the family from 10:00-11:00am Monday, May 9 at Grace Christian Reformed Church, 1724 Whites Rd where funeral services will be held at 11:00am. A light reception will follow the service. Private interment will be in Ft. Custer National Cemetery.
