Carol Ann (Mock) Padley

Carol Ann Padley, age 90, of Portage passed away March 15, 2023.  She was born November 18, 1932 to the late Ward W. and Verna A. (Miller) Mock.

Carol Mock was born in Toledo, Ohio, early in the Great Depression.  An only child, she was raised mostly by her grandparents on a small farm with chickens and a large vegetable garden. 

Carol attended Whitmer High School where she met a handsome, athletic young man named Don Padley.  They married young, but “not too young” and started a family.  The new couple worked hard and moved to Dearborn, and finally Portage, Michigan.

Carol was very active in church, finding life-long friends for her journey. She loved her family, friends, and dear furry companion, Abbey. She enjoyed travel, golf, and reading a good book.  “I just enjoy life.”

Carol is strong in her faith and will see you “down the road.”

Carol was preceded in death by her loving husband Don. She is survived by son Michael, daughter Cindy, and son-in-law Dennis Bellville.  She was a loving, ever-present grandmother to Jennifer, Andrew, and Brian Bellville; and Suzette, Michele, and Michael Padley Jr.

She will be greatly missed.

A funeral service will take place Friday, April 7, 11am at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 1747 W Milham Ave, Portage, Michigan 49024, where visitation will be from 10 to 11am. A luncheon will follow service. Carol will be laid to rest with her late husband at Ft. Custer National Cemetery.
