Breanna Dorothy Hurd

Breanna Dorothy Hurd (22) of East Lansing, MI was born on June 26th, 1999 in Owosso, MI and passed away on September 30th, 2021 from the effects of chemotherapy. She represented the very best of what our family stands for and who we are. She was honest, loyal, innocent, kind, independent, and motivated. Music, cosmetics, and fashion were her passions. At the core of her world was her future fiancé, her father, and her sisters all of whom loved her deeply.

She graduated from Owosso High School in 2017 with honors as she did for each semester of college life. She graduated from LCC with an Associate's Degree in Psychology and was three classes short of graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from U of M-Flint to become a therapist for children. Her intended fiancé, Brodee Gillam, was the love of her life with whom she was looking forward to having children. She worked at Hardees in Owosso, Fazoli's in South Lansing, Plato's Closet in East Lansing where she became a manager, and finally at Hunters Ridge Apartments & Townhouses in East Lansing where she was 2nd in charge. She moved out to live with her future fiancé three months ago, while undergoing cancer treatments before which she lived with her sisters and dad in Holt, MI. Weeks before her passing she successfully defeated cancer and was in complete remission, as she confidently said she would.

She passed away quickly without suffering and without pain. She is survived by her parents, sisters, intended fiancé, and numerous family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her namesake and great grandmother, Dorothy Hurd, and her grandfather who will guide and watch over her. As per her wishes, she was cremated with no funeral services, but there will be a memorial held on October 16th from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm at the Hampton Inn at 900 N Canal Road in West Lansing.
