Bertha (Peterman) Kingsley

October 30, 1939 — September 17, 2020

Bertha Kingsley, age 80 of Kalamazoo, passed away peacefully in her home on September 17, 2020. She was born October 30, 1939 in the Netherlands. She was the daughter of Claus and Nancy (Medendorp) Peterman. Bert, as she liked to be called, married Norman Kingsley on July 22, 1960. She graduated from Portage High School in 1958 and began working at Upjohn Company and Southern Michigan Equipment. She then retired from Kalamazoo Public Schools where she worked as a secretary for 18 years. Bert loved to travel with her fellow softball grandmas who were eventually nicknamed the "four laughing bit*@!$." In her free time, she enjoyed doing puzzles with her granddaughters while watching for hummingbirds. When she really felt adventurous, she would attempt to win big money at the casinos playing penny slots. Her family includes her children; Sharon (Cindy) Kingsley-Krake and Timothy Kingsley; her grandchildren Andy (Brianne Hughes) Reinbold, Karsten Reinbold, Lauren (Ben) Bowden, and Michelle Kingsley; her brothers and sisters; Jake Peterman, Betsy Werner, Frank (Linda) Peterman, and Angie Shaw; many nieces and nephews including Kelly, Marissa, Jordan and his daughter Lydia Moore; and her special family Edwin and Sandra Santiago and their son Sebastian. She was preceded in death by her husband Norman, her brother Harm Peterman, her brother-in-law Dick Shaw, and her daughter-in-law Tracy Kingsley. Following Bert's wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held. Donations in memory of Bert may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Southwest Michigan. Please visit Bert's webpage for directions, online guestbook, or to leave a condolence. https://www.langelands.com
